    Free Backlinks From Quassia

    Tuesday, May 27th, 2008

You really have to be on the ball to keep up with the latest in social sites. Right now a lot of stuff is happening. I was recommended this site called Quassia and its a revenue sharing 2.0 site. I am just getting into it but it drives traffic and it is good to get in on these things early. Here is what they say about themselves:

Qassia is fantastic because you get credit for sharing your intelligence. The more credit you earn, the better your websites will rank. And you get a backlink to your website for every intel you add - only Qassia gives you unlimited quality backlinks.

Last but not least, Qassia also has the best ad revenue sharing system on the Internet, so in effect you get paid for promoting your websites. Qassia rocks!

The more people join Qassia, the more everyone will benefit, so give Qassia a spin. Signing up takes less than a minute, so you’ve got nothing to lose. See ya around!

I may post a review of Quassia in the next couple days but until then you can use my Quassia Sigup link and try it out for yourself.

Nintendo: No more Wii Ads Needed

    Sunday, December 9th, 2007

First I’d like to say I’m sorry for not posting much. As you can see it’s pretty much always been like that since I started this blog. Mostly because I do work a lot and this blog is primarily a hobby. With that being said I am going to start trying to be a regular poster from now on.

Now on to a little marketing news. How sweet would it be to have a product so hot you didn’t need to advertise it anymore? This is exactly what has happened with Ninentdo and the Wii. Nintendo has announced that they are removing all Holiday season ads for the Wii because the demand is too high.

A Nintendo Marketing Rep stated: “A Nintendo spokesman says: “We have been running the campaign all year round, but we want to take a responsible stance this Christmas and not fuel demand.”

Must be a nice problem to have for Nintendo and the trendy Wii.

    Dunk Bush Ads on Facebook

    Thursday, November 15th, 2007

Now you know it has to be a catchy ad if it grabs my attention since my ad blindness is up there with the best. I saw this ad on facebook yesterday:

It is a double-edged sword when using celebs or political figures like this in your ad campaigns. On the one hand, they draw attention, are usually comical and convert well. The problem is, sometimes the celebs get pissed and you end up in a lawsuit.

Another funny thing to point out is I don’t even live in the U.S.A and am still seeing those ads.

    Thoof Vs. Digg

    Tuesday, October 2nd, 2007

Thoof Vs. Digg, a video spoof of the classic Mac vs. PC commercials. This could be user generated, or it may be a brilliant marketing ploy by Thoof themselves. It’s pretty funny for an amateur commercial, too.

    Best Viral Campaign Ever?

    Friday, September 28th, 2007

I recently came across an incredible viral campaign launched by Pepsi Max.  First off, let me show you what the finished result is - a video on a fake social network, personalized with your friend’s info on a fake video blog.

Kyle Healey, Kyle Healey Pepsi Commercial

Just watch the video, it’s truly ingenious:

Now this type of thing is just awesome because it personalizes a product. Another important thing it does, is put the viewer in a state of happiness or comic relief right before revealing it was all a dupe by Pepsi Max, thus associating the feelings of happiness with their brand.

There are multiple options when you are setting it up in order to help it look more believable. When you first see your face on the camera phone, it is actually quite a surprise. Just go to Pepsi Max Tatoo and try it out yourself, I think you will be very impressed with the interface.

A viral tool like this is good on its own, but it’s even better when it appeals to everybody. This tool appeals to the tech crowd and web savvy people because it is just pretty cool. It then appeals to the complete computer newbie because the fact that “Oh wow, I’m in a pepsi commercial!” is just so unreal to them it will make a long lasting impression on their minds.

Pepsi has a large advertising budget and they have obviously got some talented marketers over there. This is the type of viral campaign that gets passed around the internet by all means - social media, email, forums, IM, etc. In my opinion it is all the more impressive when a known conglomerate like Pepsi can humanize it’s products and create such a beautiful word of mouth online tool.

I’ve said it before and I will say it again, sex sells.

It’s Official, People Will Buy ANYTHING On Ebay

    Friday, September 28th, 2007

I don’t know why, but I still get a kick out of every hustle I see going down on ebay that are as funny as this one. If nothing else, it shows you just how stupid the average consumer is. Check out this ebay auction of open office 2007:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150160767338&category=150132

    25 bids! ??

For those of you who don’t understand why this is so insane, Open Office 2007 is a completely free open source software. It’s official, people will buy anything on ebay.

Facebook Now Puts Limitations On Flyer Ads

    Thursday, September 27th, 2007

Along with a horde of other people, I have recently been experimenting with Facebook flyer ads and trying to get some cheap and targeted traffic to some affiliate sites of mine. Im ashamed to say I didn’t look into it as much as I had originally planned, as it seems the party is over and I missed it.

There is a great post by uberaffiliate.com’s Paul over at Shoemoney’s blog and it outlines just how he used his original system to make about $10,000/day in affiliate sales. More than anything, I take this as a lesson to jump on ideas you have quickly because I really did see potential in the cheap PPC. It’s also a lesson to be learned if you have it really good, don’t go tell the world about it, as pointed out by Paul at the end of the article.

There are now a number of limitations placed on Facebook ads including pulling dupe ads, removing the feature that allowed you erase and start new flyers immediately, and even blocking some suspected duplicate users and reportedly blocking some certain popular keywords like “ringtones”. It could be to cut out all the avalanche of affiliates bidding on ringtone ads. From a business perspective, however, it’s a no brainer for Facebook to also advertise what is clearly the highest converting for their demographic as well as sell private ads - and at the end of the day, it’s their site and will do with it as they please.
