Best Viral Campaign Ever?

I recently came across an incredible viral campaign launched by Pepsi Max.  First off, let me show you what the finished result is – a video on a fake social network, personalized with your friend’s info on a fake video blog.

Kyle Healey, Kyle Healey Pepsi Commercial

Just watch the video, it’s truly ingenious:

Now this type of thing is just awesome because it personalizes a product. Another important thing it does, is put the viewer in a state of happiness or comic relief right before revealing it was all a dupe by Pepsi Max, thus associating the feelings of happiness with their brand.

There are multiple options when you are setting it up in order to help it look more believable. When you first see your face on the camera phone, it is actually quite a surprise. Just go to Pepsi Max Tatoo and try it out yourself, I think you will be very impressed with the interface.

A viral tool like this is good on its own, but it’s even better when it appeals to everybody. This tool appeals to the tech crowd and web savvy people because it is just pretty cool. It then appeals to the complete computer newbie because the fact that “Oh wow, I’m in a pepsi commercial!” is just so unreal to them it will make a long lasting impression on their minds.

Pepsi has a large advertising budget and they have obviously got some talented marketers over there. This is the type of viral campaign that gets passed around the internet by all means – social media, email, forums, IM, etc. In my opinion it is all the more impressive when a known conglomerate like Pepsi can humanize it’s products and create such a beautiful word of mouth online tool.

I’ve said it before and I will say it again, sex sells.
